Hey everyone, how is it going? Here are 21 winter Honey Do list ideas for you. Let’s start with interior inspections.
Check all of the caulking around your toilets, make sure it looks good and still has a good seal. If anything is stained, cracked or leaking fix immediately. Check the sinks, showers and bathtubs for their caulk and make sure they aren’t leaking. Leaking in the faucet can sometimes be as simple as replacing a washer. Check your windows for any interior moisture or exterior mold. Both need to be remedied asap. Check your appliances to make sure they are functioning properly and then give them a good cleaning.

Check your flooring for cracks, missing grout or damage of any kind. Depending on your flooring you may be able to remove just the damaged area and replace it with a new piece. In the winter hardwood floors shrink, this is normal. However you do want to check them for abnormally large cracks between the planks. These can be filled with a good wood filler.
Check your cabinet hinges and give your cabinets a good spring (winter) cleaning. I’ve always thought it silly to clean your cabinets in the spring when the weather is getting nice out. Vacuum out your heating vents, you’d be surprised how much debris is in there. Clean your walls and check them for pockets. Pockets signify a possible leak, if the pockets are near the ceiling this can be from a roof leak. This one I know from experience!
Have your furnace serviced. It usually costs between $100-150 and should be done at least every couple years. This little service can insure your furnace/A.C. lasts as long as possible and functions efficiently. Dust/ wash all the baseboards. I don’t know about your house but man my baseboards get dirty quickly with 2 boys and a dog running around. Last but not least dust those ceiling fans, ewww!!
Some Exterior Inspection ideas are check your roof. I know here in the Pacific Northwest we had some big windstorms this fall. It is a good idea to check that your roof isn’t missing any shingles and doesn’t have to much heavy mold/mildew producing debris on it. Check your foundation to make sure there aren’t any holes or deterioration going on with it. It’s also a good idea to check from inside the crawl space to make sure rodents haven’t been digging under the foundation and into the crawl space. Rodents can cause thousands of dollars in damage in a crawl space.

Pressure wash your walkways, if you aren’t able to pressure wash at least treat them with a mold/mildew product. This will keep your walkways from getting slippery and they will stay looking much nicer. Check the exterior of your home for any potential issues. Look at your hardiplank siding and make sure you don’t have any large cracks or pieces missing. Cracks can be easily filled with the right caulk.
If the weather permits check your sprinkler system. Check each sprinkler head to make sure it’s functioning the way you need it to. Get your sprinkler system in tip top shape before the spring and summer watering begins. Fix any electrical outlets that are broken and even the outlet covers. Replacing outlet covers is a very small cost but can really make a room look nice! Lastly check your garage door. Make sure it opens and closes properly, check the wheels for debris. If something is not functioning properly call a expert in to get the door working properly again.
